Each student has a different reason for pursuing an experiential learning opportunity. Helping the student identify their motivation could be as simple as asking them questions about their career goals, their plan for the rest of their time in school, or reaching deeper to connect about any dream careers they have now or have had in the past.
This study revealed discrepancies in how mentors and students describe the competency, leadership. The more academicians, employers, policymakers, and recent college graduates can understand the similarities and differences in how we define career readiness, the quicker we can adjust, meet the workforce’s current and future needs, and move towards closing the competency gaps.
